So all the big holidays have passed and I kinda got too wrapped up in life to update and now it's the new year and I realize that I should be keeping up on this blog a little bit more often than I have.
I'm not saying it's a resolution or anything, because then if I fail I'll have to add it to the list of failed resolutions. Let's just say I feel like starting a new habit.
So here's what you missed while I was away:
Lincoln had a great Christmas. He got everything he asked for and more and we barely had to get him anything since our family is so generous. I won't list it all, but there was a lot, let me tell you. Luckily one of his favorites is one that Gena and I got him and it doesn't take batteries or make any large amount of noise.
For Christmas this year my favorite gift was probably a Wii Star Wars game that Gena got me, but we also got some gift cards to Home Depot which have been incredibly helpful around the house. I got her some more books and new brakes for her skates.
For the New Year, we decided to have a quiet evening at home and since Lincoln wasn't interested in sleeping, he nearly got the watch the ball drop with us. He finally fell asleep around 11:15 and I may have nodded off while putting him down so I came downstairs with about 15 minutes to spare.
We have been working on getting some things done around the house. The baby's room is nearly complete and we are looking at doing some work in our bathroom upstairs. We have been talking about tearing up the carpet the company put down in favor of the old hardwood floors beneath, but we have to see what condition they are in before we make that move since we don't have the time of money to do a full re-finish of the enormous amounts of wood floor in the house. Looking back at the pictures we took on our first walk through I realize that every room in this house except the bathrooms and kitchen are wood. It will all be beautiful one day, but for now it might end up being uglier than the cheap carpet that was installed.
I will close by saying I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I hope you all have a happy and healthy new year. It's a fresh new start and we have another 365 to make a difference in our own lives as well as those around us. I will put up new Christmas pictures soon so keep watching.
